TUNA EATERS, NATURALLY BETTER LOVERS ? By Henk Brus (September 29, 00)
As a great fan of tuna sandwiches, tuna salads and a
juicy tuna steak, I was pleasantly surprised to come to know, what I already suspected for
many years.....
A British company JSR Healthbred reported recently to have booked a major breakthrough in
enhancing fertility, with the use of an extract of tuna. This extract named DHA, or Docosa Hexaenoic Acid is found in fish such as tuna and salmon, and has
lots of health benefits. The scientists of JSR Healthbred used DHA to be make the worlds
first natural fertility enhancer. Their product "Prosperm" was sprinkled
carefully on the food of boars ( male pigs), and these creatures just "loved
it". Researchers observed that the animals became much livelier, and more active
lovers. Their off-spring grew substantially leading to 100 extra little piggies per 100
"services" (as they are called in the Agri business).
JSR Healthbred has formed a joint-venture, JSR Clover, with Clover Corporation, who is
involved in the research, marketing, and purification of tuna oil. In Australia Clover has
a cooperation with the Heinz Greenseas Cannery, which delivers the oil as a by-product of
the tuna processing. Also in Thailand, Thai Union, and several other companies are
involved in the the production of tuna oil capsules, offering high DHA.
"Prosperm" seems to combine DHA, an essential structural component of the sperms
cell, with anti-oxidants Vitamin E and Selenium, which play a vital role against the
damaging effect of free radicals. Together the components have led to a "tuna love
pill".
After 3 years of observing these boars mating, scientists discovered, that after eating
the Tuna Fish tablets their sperm number and concentration increased significantly. Sperm
count had increased by up to 15%. Also the size of their testicles were up by 20 percent.
The British company is launching their product this week in the Agri-cultural market, and
obviously their is a lot of interest from farmers.
The obvious questions, not only for the farmers, but for business in general is: If it
works on pigs, will it also work on humans ? Will the "tuna love pill" become
the cheaper and natural alternative to the Pharmaceutical Viagra pill. According to
management at JSR Healthbred it is unclear at present if the "Tuna Love Pill' would
also work on men.
JSR Clover has patented its inventions and reports that also the application on other
mammals and birds looks promising. Obviously this new invention could provide a great
unexpected oppurtunity to the tuna industry, and its employees ?
