EU Parliament member Linnéa Engström has been confirmed as the latest speaker to join the roster at this year’s European Tuna Conference (ETC2019) organized by Atuna on May 6 at Hotel Le Plaza Brussels, Belgium.
She will be addressing the tuna industry participants on the topic "European Social & Sustainability Standard?"
Engström is a political scientist that has since 2014 served as the Vice-Chair of the Committee on Fisheries.
Before becoming a member of the European Parliament, she worked as a gender coordinator and with development support directed towards Russia, Belarus, Georgia and Eastern Europe.
Engström was also the rapporteur for the Sustainable management of EU external fishing fleet, which handles the external dimension of the Common fisheries reform, issues of great importance to the long-term sustainability of EU-fisheries agreements, a.o.
“Beyond The Surface: Accountability & Transparency In Global Tuna” is the theme of this year's event and it will take place just one day before the start of the three-day Global Seafood Expo.
