US Retailer Recalls Tuna Salad Products

US retailer Albertsons voluntarily recalled multiple tuna salad items sold in its stores, as well as in supermarkets Randalls and Tom Thumb, in Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma. The move was made due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes in breadcrumbs used as an ingredient in their products.
The recalled items included Tuna salad with Crackers, Tuna Salad Premium, Snacker Tray Tuna Salad, Tuna Salad Croissant Sandwich, sold in stores from July 18 to 19. Consumers who have purchased any of these items were urged not to consume them, and to dispose of them, or return to the store (from where it was purchased) for a full refund. Listeriosis can cause fever, muscle aches, nausea, diarrhea, and stomach cramps. Albertsons confirmed that there have not been any reports of people becoming ill due to the products. Two months back, US-based Fresh and Ready Foods voluntarily recalled 86 ready-to-eat products, including tuna sandwiches and pastas, due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
