Carbon-Neutral Tuna Will Be A Topic For Discussion At TUNA 2024

30 April 2024

Adam Brennan, Thai Union’s Group Director of Sustainability, will speak on the topic ‘Meeting the increasing retail demand for carbon-neutral tuna’ on the first day of the INFOFISH 18th World Tuna Trade Conference & Exhibition. The event also called TUNA 2024 will start on May 20 and will host an array of renowned speakers from the global tuna sector.

Carbon-neutral tuna products do not add additional carbon to the atmosphere during their production, use, and disposal. Several tuna companies, especially in the EU, have pledged to reduce their carbon footprint in the fishing and processing sectors, and firms in the bloc are adhering to the EU’s plan to become carbon neutral by 2050. Brennan will speak about how global tuna companies can meet the growing demand for such products.

Brennan, who took over the role as the Director of TU’s sustainability initiatives in 2021, has extensive experience spearheading sustainability and environmental programs at clothing companies C&A and Puma. He leads Thai Union’s ambitious SeaChange sustainable strategy and other initiatives such as its sustainable packaging pledge and climate change strategy.

Atuna is the official partner for the TUNA 2024 event.
