Dongwon F&B Expands Tuna Concentrate Line For Koreans

Dongwon F&B launched two new types of ‘Dongwon Tsuyu,’ a multipurpose sauce, made from tuna and kelp concentrates. The company said in a statement that the products are made “by boiling fresh tuna caught from the South Pacific for more than five hours to create a deep savory flavor. In addition, it is characterized by a rich flavor made by boiling 100 percent Wando-grown kelp, radish, and mushrooms.”
The price of the newly launched ‘Dongwon Tsuyu’ is KRW 6,980 (USD 5) for 500 g and KRW 19,980 (USD 14.48) for 2 kg, and is available in retail and online stores. A company spokesperson said: “Based on our accumulated seasoning technology and analysis of consumer tastes, we have developed a deep and clean Tsuyu flavor [a subtle fish taste] that suits the Korean plate. We will continue to release various seasoning products that will make cooking easier.” Dongwon claimed that the products were introduced owing to the massive success of its Tuna Extract, launched in 2022. The Extract received a lot of attention from consumers, with domestic sales increasing by more than 50 percent in 2024 alone, with the company introducing various new items such as ‘Dongwon Tuna Dashi’. The organization also announced the launch of four types of ‘Boneless Grilled Fish’ made from tuna, mackerel, and flounder priced at KRW 5,980 (USD 4.39) for a 70g pack.
