Dongwon’s Future Leader Begins Journey In Company

Earlier this month, Kim Dong-chan, a third generation family member of Dongwon, joined as a staff member in the marine and fisheries division of Dongwon Industries. The 25-year old is the eldest son of Kim Nam-jung, the Chairman and CEO of Dongwon Group. Dong-chan was hired through a public recruitment program last December and will handle operational tasks. He is expected to go on a month-long fishing expedition in June, reported Korean news sites.

Dong-chan, who graduated from a South Korean university, is one of Nam-jung’s three children. The three do not own shares in Dongwon Group affiliates. Dongwon Group, like many South Korean business conglomerates, usually prepares its next-generation leaders from a relatively young age, though specific details about early-stage training programs are not publicly disclosed.
