FCF Longline Albacore Catches In Atlantic Ocean Gets Sustainable Tick

Taiwanese tuna trader FCF has received the MSC certification for longline albacore catches in the South and North Atlantic Ocean. The CAB, Control Union UK, published the Public Certification Report on August 13. There are two units of assessment (UoA) – South Atlantic Albacore (UoA1) and North Atlantic Albacore (UoA2). The 16 Taiwanese-flagged longliners in this fishery caught 3,545 tons of South Atlantic albacore and 1.6 tons of North Atlantic albacore in 2022. Passing scores of above 80 were given for all three principles – sustainable fish stock, minimal ecosystem impacts, and effective management -- and there were no objections from stakeholders.
