Festival For Value-Added Tuna Products A Massive Success In Seychelles
The Seychelles Fishing Authority (SFA) and Thai Union-owned IOT plant organized a fishing festival in Praslin, the second most populated island in Seychelles, to promote value-added products, a rising market in the archipelago, made from tuna and other seafood. Several canned tuna items from the IOT plant were sold off like hotcakes. The SFA team prepared dumplings, burgers, and nuggets. The audience relished several tuna dishes, including tuna breast stir-fry and salted tuna curry with coconut. All products were sold out before noon and officials said that exceeded their expectations, reported Seychelles news sites.
SFA took the opportunity to inform about working in the economically important fishing sector, such as permits needed to embark on a tuna vessel or other fishing boats and the use of vessel monitoring systems. Several students attended the event that was held on June 29 at the popular Baie Ste Anne Fish Market.
