Mexican Bluefin Farm Expands With Acquisition Of Seafood Company

Earlier this week, Mexican bluefin aquaculture company Baja Aqua Farms confirmed buying Ensenada-based fishing and processing firm, Baja Marine Foods. The amount for which the deal was sealed was not disclosed. The acquisition cements Baja Aqua-Farms’ position as the premier vertically integrated bluefin rancher in the Americas, while enhancing its end-to-end supply chain traceability – from ocean to plate, reported news sites. Manuel Vazquez, Chief Executive Officer of the bluefin firm, said that the acquisition will strengthen the company’s ability to deliver high quality fish to customers worldwide sustainably.
According to Baja Marine Foods’ website, it produces up to 450 tons of frozen sardines, mackerel, anchovies, squid, fishmeal, and fish oil daily. The company does not manufacture any tuna products.
