Spain Green Lights 183 Longliners To Fish In Tuna-Rich Oceans

The Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has updated the unified census of 183 longliners flagged to the country that can fish for highly migratory species such as tuna and swordfish. The census provides information on where the longliners are allowed to catch the fish and the capture tonnages. It is published in the Official State Gazette. The vessels will operate in the tuna-rich Indian, Atlantic, and Pacific Oceans.
The Ministry said in its statement that most of the vessels (127), operate from Galicia as their home port. This is followed by Andalusia (33), Catalonia (9), Murcia (6), Canary Islands (3), Valencia (3) and the Basque Country (2).
