Spanish Port Hosts Asian Vessels Back From Bluefin Fishing
Over 40 Chinese and Japanese tuna fishing vessels that catch Atlantic bluefin are docked at the Port of Las Palmas in Spain to discharge their catches as well as restock food and other supplies. Some of the crew members are traveling home, whereas, vessel owners are busy sending their capture volumes to various fishing companies. The crew are taking their time off after months of bluefin fishing. Serax and Atlansea are among the companies that are carrying out the stevedoring operations.
Vessels owned by CNFC, one of the largest Chinese tuna fishing companies, are among those moored at the Las Palmas harbor where Asian fleets are a regular sight. According to news site Espiral21, shipments of food and perishable goods grew by 22 percent at over 1.5 million tons at this port in the first six months of the year.
