World’s Largest Tuna Sashimi Created In Mazatlán

On May 31, the Mexican town of Mazatlán scripted history by creating the world’s longest sashimi for the Guinness World Records. The one-kilometer-long dish was made by over 300 chefs and culinary students from more than 19,000 pieces of fresh tuna. This fish plays an important role in Mazatlán’s economy, home to  industrial tuna fishing vessels. The event, where hundreds of locals and tourists were present, was organized by the local tourism board in collaboration with various culinary institutions. It was promoted by the Sabores de Mazatlán movement, aimed at developing the culinary heritage of the town.

An official adjudicator from the Guinness World Records walked along the one-km culinary creation to ensure that fresh tuna was used. Music bands played throughout the event to give their support to the participants. Mazatlán broke the record for the longest sashimi in December 2024, and kept the position this year too, reported Mexican news sites.
