Chaos On Mazatlán Highway As Purse Seine Net Truck Overturns

The traffic on a busy Mazatlán highway was disrupted last Saturday when a truck, carrying a 20 ton-purse seiner net overturned on the road. The accident happened when the vehicle, which was leading a convoy of five other trucks carrying similar nets, lost balance at a curve due to the weight of the cargo despite it being secured with chains and ropes. Mexican news sites reported that the maneuver was uncoordinated leading to the partial overturning of the vehicle. The incident happened on Gabriel Leyva Avenue, located on the south side of Mazatlán. The name of the company that owned the nets were not revealed

Traffic on this route halted as the nets remained scattered on the road. Police officers arrived at the scene and took several hours to remove them from the road, using cranes, before fully restoring traffic.
