Design Of Budding Artist To Decorate Tuna Cans In Spanish Campaign

03 July 2024

Ana Tocino Castaño, a 22-year-old artist from Madrid, won the sixth Anfaco-Banco Sabadell Foundation Design Award last week. The award, which recognizes creativity in packaging for canned tuna and other seafood, attracted over 170 youngsters (below 35 years) from different parts of Europe to submit their creations. Castaño’s work will be used to cover the cans in next year’s campaign ‘Cata la Lata’ to promote seafood consumption. The Foundation explained: “The design integrates photographic-like images from illustrations, which explicitly highlights the quality of the product contained in the can and guides the consumer towards a close tasting experience.”

The award function was attended by stakeholders from tuna and other fishing businesses, politicians, and artists. “The competition offered a platform to young artists to demonstrate their talent and contribute with their innovative works to the dynamic canning market,” said Anfaco.
