Dongwon Collaborates With LG Electronics On Target CO2 Neutral By 2050
Korean companies Dongwon Group and LG Electronics signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to reduce the carbon emissions of Dongwon by more than 40 percent by 2030. The Group, whose subsidiary Dongwon F&B reigns the Korean tuna market, will invest KRW 40,000,000,000 (USD 29.70 million) in the project for various high-efficiency heating, ventilation, and air conditioning solutions.
One of the first target sites for introducing the project will be the company’s business unit, Dongwon Loex, which operates a global network of transportation, ship loading and unloading, storage, and overseas logistics and has a terminal at the port of Busan. Its specific work requires the application of a cold chain system, reported Korean news sites. Dongwon has vessels fishing for tuna in the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans. In 2020, when it celebrated its 50th anniversary, Dongwon committed to implementing carbon neutrality by reducing its emissions in its core businesses, including fisheries and food.
