Dongwon’s Competitor Launches New Flavors Of Ready-To-Eat Tuna
Korean tuna brand Ottogi, one of Dongwon’s main competitors in the national market, recently launched pouched tuna in three new flavors –Old Sesame Oil Tuna, Gold Mayo Tuna, and Spicy Mara Tuna. Ottogi said that the products were introduced due to rising demand for rice bowls in the country over the past three years. All three flavors contain 43.6 percent tuna while Ottogi’s other pouched tuna items contain around 25 percent.
The new 95-gram pouches can be poured over rice, used as a filling for the Korean dish tuna kimbap, or added to fried rice. A company spokesperson said: “The demand for home-cooked meals has increased and the number of people eating rice bowls that can be easily prepared as a meal has also risen. The three products can be eaten without any other side dishes or sauce. We will continue to introduce products taking into account consumer needs.”
